Hail in Verona

On Thursday night we had hail in Verona. I have not ever seen real hail in my life and that was quite interesting. It was very loud and after a few minutes the lawn was full of these golf-size balls of hail; it measured around 2 inches in Verona. We were among the lucky ones. In several other parts of the state the size of the hail was a lot larger; 4 inches was the biggest reported for this storm.

None of our cars was outside and boy, are we glad about that! The news showed a car in their parking lot with a completely smashed back window. Not having experienced this kind of hail before I was a bit afraid that it might damage the house. Well, I was wrong. Nothing happened to the house and I am happy about this as well. I could also see no damage to any of our neighbors property. All cars were in the garage. I know, because I did open the door during the main part of the storm and saw no cars in the driveway. A couple of our neighbors were looking out of their windows as well.

We had just put the kids to bed... Costas completely slept through it! Sophia was almost asleep at the time the fun started, but the hail woke her up. Margie had to explain that God was making ice cubes... the story went well.
