Deer Hunting 2006

Deer hunting was good for both my father-in-law and I this year. Well, it was better for Joe as you can see below. We were both done in the first two days...

Joe and his monster 10-point buck. The buck was taken on opening day of the WI deer hunting (Nov. 18, 2006) and weighted 155 lbs field-dressed and head-less. Joe will be mounting this one!

The 10-point buck was not the only deer Joe got this year! He also got this very nice 9-pointer (9-pointer because one of the tines was broken) in the same morning. He got the 9-pointer first and then the 10-pointer walked by... The 9-pointer weighted 135 lbs field-dressed.

The year was not bad for me, either. The 2nd day of the hunt, Sunday morning, Nov. 19, I got this doe and a 7-point buck. Both deer came running into the woods, the doe first. I shot at the doe and then the buck came into range. The doe weighted 100 lbs field-dressed.

And this is my 7-pointer; 115 lbs field-dressed. As I said at the beginning, an excellent year for deer hunting. Posted by Picasa

Fall 2006 Turkey Hunt

For the first time ever, I had a successful turkey hunt this Fall. On Saturday, October 7, at 7:40am I was able to get the nice pictured turkey.

I have not cooked the bird yet, but it's a big one. I will report back when this happens.

Greece takes 2nd place in 2006 World Basketball Championship

Greece is a small county, but as it turns out, we are big in basketball.

The Greek national basketball team ranked number two (2) in the 2006 world basketball championship after defeating the USA national team in the semi-finals and losing from Spain in the finals.

Basement Shelves

View one of two of the shelves I built at our basement. The end product was big enough to "host" all of our stuff that used to be on the basement floor, allowing lots of room for play.

We can even start imagining now how the basement would look like when we decide to finish it.

The second pictures shows a closer view of the corner of the basement shelf wall. Posted by Picasa

Hail in Verona

Verona hail 2006-04-14 On Thursday night we had hail in Verona. I have not ever seen real hail in my life and that was quite interesting. It was very loud and after a few minutes the lawn was full of these golf-size balls of hail; it measured around 2 inches in Verona. We were among the lucky ones. In several other parts of the state the size of the hail was a lot larger; 4 inches was the biggest reported for this storm.

None of our cars was outside and boy, are we glad about that! The news showed a car in their parking lot with a completely smashed back window. Not having experienced this kind of hail before I was a bit afraid that it might damage the house. Well, I was wrong. Nothing happened to the house and I am happy about this as well. I could also see no damage to any of our neighbors property. All cars were in the garage. I know, because I did open the door during the main part of the storm and saw no cars in the driveway. A couple of our neighbors were looking out of their windows as well.

We had just put the kids to bed... Costas completely slept through it! Sophia was almost asleep at the time the fun started, but the hail woke her up. Margie had to explain that God was making ice cubes... the story went well.

The picture in this post is my friend's Jeff. He obviously got out and got some of this stuff to have to show! Thanks Jeff.
